Gene Nichol is the Devil
![]()
Gene Nichol, the President of the College of William & Mary, is the Devil. You heard it here first.
A few months ago, this guy decided he would just bend over and let the NCAA stick it in his ass by forcing the College to lose the feathers in their logo because some politically correct white jackasses decided that feathers were offensive to Indians. FEATHERS ARE PARTS OF BIRDS!!!! I have no idea how the W&M logo was offensive to Indians, but it looks like there is nothing I can do now but print my own t-shirts and do my best to encourage college athletes to break every NCAA rule they can.

Now, this asshole has decided that he is opposed to the display of a cross in the Wren Chapel. It is the Wren CHAPEL. Sorry you idiot – but a Chapel is inherently Christian. Nothing you and your politically correct ass can do about it. Deal with it. Why don't you just propose to knock the whole building down, you asshole?
Look – everybody knows that somehow you slipped through the cracks and got this job (boy I'd like to punch the idiots that hired you). But stop trying to make a name for yourself by bucking tradition. Stop trying to grab the spotlight by embroiling yourself in controversy. And for God's sake – get some balls! Stop bending over whenever anybody cries about being offended. I am offended by YOU! As such, I think you should remove yourself from this display. Since you are so willing to remove whatever anybody wants as soon as they claim to be offended by it, you should have no problem finding a sewer to go dump yourself in.
So why don't you stop worrying about your next interview and maybe think about doing something good for the illustrious College you were put in charge of. You Freaking Moron!
Gene Nichol – You should be ashamed of yourself. As an alumnus of the College, I am ashamed that we hired you. You are an atrocious blight on the good name of my College, and I hope your family and friends realize just what a failure you are.

Another "Vista blows" article
![]()
Just more evidence that Vista blows and Mac OSX rules. I never get tired of reading this stuff. I really can't say how much joy it brings me to know that Steve & Bill & the gang in Redmond must go to bed every night sad that their products are sub-par. What a woeful company…
Windows Vista Hinders Creative Users’ Efficiency Even More than Windows XP Did
Highlights:
Tags: Microsoft,OSX
- Even if Microsoft has been playing copycat all over, the results are simply lousy –there’s no other word for it.
- In the area of Mouse Precision, Windows Vista scored worse than Windows XP. Where Mac OS X scored 0.08, Windows XP scored 0.40 and Vista/Aero 0.52.
- Pfeiffer’s report also covers Menu Latency –the slight lag that Windows imposes when displaying menus and submenus. Here, the report concludes Vista/Aero has worsened by no less than 20% compared to Windows XP.
- Finally, Desktop Operations –such as opening folders, deleting elements, etc) also show Vista/Aero has become worse than Windows XP. The lag has increased by 16%.
- Their benchmarks show that creative professionals will actually become less productive than they would be when using Windows XP. Of course, Mac OS X remains a clear winner in this area. The reasons why that is so is explained in Pfeiffer’s full report on the matter.

Goalie Moons the Crowd

Evidently a USC goalie decided to moon the crowd and got a ticket for lewd behavior.
That is f-ing hilarious. I really need to start doing that instead of breaking my stick when I get frustrated. I'm not sure which would be cheaper – paying a ticket for lewdly mooning somebody or paying for a new stick. Certainly mooning would be more entertaining.
I'll tell you what though – the officer that wrote him the ticket really needs to get a sense of humor. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised – it was a game in Utah, and I don't think the Mormons really have a sense of humor about butts. This world would really be a much better place if people got off their high horses and laughed a little.

Australia site is up

I've made a couple improvements to the site in the last few days.
I finally got our Australia site up. Go to the homepage and click on the Southern Cross in the sky, or go direct to the site here. You'll need a username and password to get in – if you don't already have the username/password for the site, let me know and (assuming I know who the hell you are) I'll send you the info. For those of you that have gotten in to other sections of the site – it's the same creds.
And I at least got the front page of the site to render correctly in Safari. I reworked the imagemap with a different CSS technique, and on the advice of some folks, put a sitemap out there for people that have CSS enabled, but images disabled.
I also read an article regarding CSS efficiency and tried to slim things down a little. And finally, I put in a lot of work to make the new pages WC3 XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant. None of the rest of the pages are, but I'll get to them over time.
Happy Presidents' Day. And congratulations to Salary.com for going public last week.

Safari / CSS @ Midwood.Net
I've been struggling for a while with trying to get the main page for Midwood.Net to show up the right way using Safari. It seems to work fine in IE and Firefox. It's an image map using CSS, and I'm sure there are some bugs somewhere in the positioning code, but I'm not sure what else to try.
Here's the link to the homepage.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this up to work in Safari would be appreciated. Leave a comment. Thanks.

Grad school
You are now reading the blog of a guy who has been accepted to WPI's Masters of Industrial Mathematics Program. I am very pleased especially since I had a trifling time w/ the GRE Subject Test.
I'm planning on concentrating in cryptography, so expect many future topics in this blog to be concerned with fascinating subjects that I will probably not understand in the least. I'm starting in the fall of 2007.
I am very excited about this. I do have 3 years of NCAA eligibility left – I swam one year of D-I at W&M – so maybe I'll go be a walk-on football star. I'm sure there has to be a market for an early 30s over the hill former college athlete.
Meet Gompei the WPI Goat. He has his own bowling alley. I am cised!

Friends don't let friends do Vista

Check out this article that makes some great points about why Vista won't measure up to the successes that Microsoft had in the 90s – Windows 95 and Vista: Why 2007 Won't Be Like 1995
Highlights among the items include:
1) Microsoft not really innovating anything (why innovate when they can bully and steal from other companies)
2) Microsoft making promises it never delivered
3) The viability of competitors in the Linux and Mac markets that are actually producing first rate products to Microsoft's bag of buggy insecure crap
I really am enjoying watching Microsuck fall apart at the seams. I guess the arrogance, greed, and incompetence at every level of management I ever saw in that company are finally coming to back to karma slap it in the face.
Vista stinks. Plain and simple. How many good reviews of Vista have you read? Oh – I forgot how good the draconian licensing scheme is. Or how wonderful it will be to downgrade all your HD content. Or how much fun it will be when you have to drop four months salary to buy a machine fast enough to run the bogged down piece of crap.
Enough already. Just like Brett Favre, Microsoft should just call it a day. It is a sad embarrassment for you to keep plodding along having sub-par seasons because you can't let go and retire already. MS and Brett – you are both done. You both did well for a while (can't argue with past successes), but enough already. Hang em up. Do it before you embarrass yourself even more than you already have.
I can't say enough how pleased I have lately become with non-MS commercial alternatives such OSX and the loads of small developers catering to the platform. And the open source stuff is really gaining momentum. There is absolutely nothing that I need an MS product for now. No more DLL hell, no more blue screens, no more Microsoft.

And on a side note, I recently read on the internet (so it must be true) that Payton Manning is the devil – read it for yourself. So that really stinks, because when I get to hell, I'm sure I'll be forced to be a roommate with Payton, Osama, BillG, Myles Brand, Ichiro, the entire New York Yankees team, and of course Joe Buck.
Joe Buck Sucks! Sing it with me now!
I'm thinking if we give Canada the entire state of Washington (which really is good for nothing except a place to stick nasty granola chicks that don't shave their legs), and have them name Joe Buck the Prime Minister, we could really turn this country around.
And then if we can just get them to give the rightful feathers back to William & Mary, all will be right with the world.
Offensive my ass…
