Bathroom remodel
I've spent the last couple weekends starting work on the master bathroom remodel. The pics below show the bathroom before we started any work and then after I ripped out the vanity, toilet, and most of the tub. We just had some shutoff valves installed downstairs, so I expect to be able to finish ripping out the tub this weekend. At that point, the demo should basically be done and we can start cleaning it up and doing the installation work.

Loser Gene Nichol Quits! Thank God!
![]()
Gene Nichol sucks. He still sucks even after he quit. Gene Nichol is a loser. See ya, communist pig! You're done. Go home. Nothing to see here. You brought this on yourself. Never have I felt more proud of a Board of Visitors.
Gene Nichol found out he wasn't getting renewed, and the fat crybaby liberal pussy decided to quit. This is the first decision he's made that I agree with. He probably needed to go home so he could make appointments to remove crosses from his local church or eat donuts with a bunch of sex workers. Or maybe buddy up with some indians and take away North Dakota's feathers too.
It just makes my heart warm when a liberal freakshow loses his job.
Good job BOV – your donation is on the way.
And with that, I leave you with these quotes from his letter to the W&M community:
I was informed by the Rector on Sunday, after our Charter Day celebrations, that my contract will not be renewed in July. Appropriately, serving the College in the wake of such a decision is beyond my imagining. Accordingly, I have advised the Rector, and announce today, effective immediately, my resignation as president of the College of William & Mary. I return to the faculty of the school of law to resume teaching and writing.
Yeah – because you can't imagine anything beyond what you're going to eat for dinner. And resuming "teaching" – sure – if by that you mean teaching how to disregard public opinion and force a communist dictatorship on a college.
First, as is widely known, I altered the way a Christian cross was displayed in a public facility…
Altered? Really? Or how about tried to have removed? Sorry piggy – it may be a public facility, but it is a CHAPEL. Not a mosque, not a synagogue – it's a Christian chapel. And crosses go in chapels. That's the way it is, no matter how much your fat liberal ass wants it to be all lovey dovey kumbaya with the whole world. Freak.
Second, I have refused, now on two occasions, to ban from the campus a program funded by our student-fee-based, and student-governed, speaker series.
Just so happened that both times it allowed you to push your own agenda on the rest of the world. Might you feel differently if your own family happened to work in those industries?
Third, in my early months here, … I introduced an aggressive Gateway scholarship program…
What, do you want a medal? Who cares? Stop trying to play Robin Hood – you're too fat and misguided. Why should the rest of us have to pay for these kids to go to school. Enough with your communism.
Fourth, from the outset of my presidency, I have made it clear that if the College is to reach its aspirations of leadership, it is essential that it become a more diverse, less homogeneous institution….
Let's tow the liberal party line and hire people based on their color rather than their qualifications. Good idea. Reverse discrimination is still discrimination. Quotas don't work. And from what I've read, affirmative action is illegal in Virginia. Moron.
As the result of these decisions, the last sixteen months have been challenging ones for me and my family.
Why – did your local Arby's close?
A committed, relentless, frequently untruthful and vicious campaign — on the internet and in the press — has been waged against me, my wife and my daughters. …. That campaign has now been rendered successful. And those same voices will no doubt claim victory today.
Yes – we do. Too bad – you LOSE!
I add only that, on Sunday, the Board of Visitors offered both my wife and me substantial economic incentives if we would agree “not to characterize [the non-renewal decision] as based on ideological grounds” or make any other statement about my departure without their approval. Some members may have intended this as a gesture of generosity to ease my transition. But the stipulation of censorship made it seem like something else entirely. We, of course, rejected the offer. It would have required that I make statements I believe to be untrue and that I believe most would find non-credible. I’ve said before that the values of the College are not for sale. Neither are ours.
Too bad they didn't offer you a book of McDonald's coupons. You would have sold out for that.
Mine, to be sure, has not been a perfect presidency. I have sometimes moved too swiftly, and perhaps paid insufficient attention to the processes and practices of a strong and complex university. A wiser leader would likely have done otherwise.
Finally – something I can agree with.
See ya later jackass! Good riddance.
Kudos to our BOV. They are people who should be commended for their fortitude in the face of the freak that was president. Glad to know that eventually public opinion wins out and we don't have to continue with political correctness just for the sake of political correctness.
Finally – I am really surprised that there are really a lot of folks who read my posts. I really enjoy that what I write evokes enough emotion in other people to take the time to write back. People leave me a lot of interesting comments that never make it into the public domain. Mostly because they are liberal freaks, and guess what – my website is run by a dictatorship – Me! No need for equal time – that's what Gene would want. I pay for the right to do what ever I want in my little corner.
Finally – the NCAA sucks too. Still sucks – bad. Give W&M our feathers back. Gene decided to stop fighting. Maybe the next person will reconsider. I'm still trying to figure out how two feathers are offensive to indians.
But back to the real news of the day. To all you Gene-loving freaks out there – too bad. You lose. Don't hate the player – hate the game.

Aruba

Pictures from our first day in Aruba are posted on both Flickr and our travel blog.
On Friday we got up at 3am to get to Logan. We got on our plane on time. We flew to Dulles to catch our connection to Aruba. We circled Dulles for an hour in an ice storm. We ran out of gas and had to land at BWI. While we sat at BWI refueling, our flight to Aruba left Dulles. There is only one flight per day from Dulles to Aruba. I think our pilot should have gotten some balls and landed in the ice. We spent the night at the Marriott at Dulles airport. Awesome.
So after losing a full day of our vacation, we managed to make it down there where we consumed copious amounts of alcohol by the pool and on the beach. It was only then that I felt much better.
More pics from our final two days in Aruba will be coming soon.
