This post originated at the Steamers Hockey website.
After blowing a 2 goal lead twice in the same game to give up a point to the Sled Dogs, I am the first one to admit that the shooter tutor pictured here is a better goalie than I am…
In other inexplicable news, we are evidently still in second place in our division, but also very close to the bubble, as the top four teams get in, and 5th place is only two points out from us at this point. So I leave you with the great Jim Mora. I believe based on his comments that he must have been sitting in the stands on Monday.

The Steamers pulled off a 6-2 win against the Bay State Beavers. In honor of beating up on Beavers, I give you Stacey. Stacey (pictured here) is happy the Steamers finally won a game in front of their old fat goalie. It's about time.

A great article from the Telegraph:
Barack Obama discovers socialist projects at home and a pro-Marxist foreign policy are making him unpopular
Wonder how many hours we'll get through today before some Dem tries to convince me that the president is not a socialist and that his moronic health care proposals are good for this country? Please don't bother. I'd rather stuff my fingers into my eyeballs than discuss this with the left.
And an interesting quote from the article:
Barack Obama’s approval rating has slipped to below that of George “Dubya” Bush at the same stage in his presidency and this is causing some concern among right-thinking (by which, of course, I mean left-thinking) people.
Is this true? If so, thank god some people are waking up.

When my Macbook is at home, it has been backing up to my Time Capsule wirelessly on my local network. I finally figured out how to get the Time Machine backups to work remotely while I'm on the road or in my office.
- SSH server. I have an externally accessible SSH server running on my network. It is accessible via port forwarding through my AirPort edge router. I spent a considerable amount of time hardening it with time outs, policies, etc to help prevent brute forcing the password. Not foolproof by any means, but I concentrate on keeping it up to date, changing the password periodically, logging things, etc. I decided not to run SSH on a nonstandard port since some of the networks I'm traveling on don't allow non-22 traffic for SSH.
- I use port forwarding via SSH to forward port a high port on my local host (the Macbook) to port 548 (which is Apple File Protocol AFP) using something like:
ssh -L 10548:mytimecapsule:548 myuseraccount@my.dynamic.hostname.com
- I use Finder to mount the Time Capsule via an aliased localhost. Hitting Ctrl+K and using something like the following works fine:
afp://127.0.0.1:10548
- From there, the Macbook sees the drive on the Time Capsule, and then I just have to go to Time Machine preferences to select the drive. Even though it's named the same as when I'm actually on my local network, I still have to switch the selection due to the IP differences.
- Wait a while. Since it's over SSH and bandwidth limited, it does take longer than a normal incremental backup when I'm at home, but hey – it's better than nothing, and it's a standard Time Machine backup, whether I'm at home or on the road.
Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do about offsite backups. I'm looking hard at Mozy.

Your boy was a dummy today and accidentally deleted the partition table on his Macbook while trying to create a bootable USB drive.
Luckily, there is a free tool out there called TestDisk. I booted to a Linux live CD, brought over TestDisk on a USB drive, and it recovered in the partition table with less than 3 minutes of total effort. And I am writing this on a recovered Macbook.
Nice.

Get ready for health care tax-apalooza by Michelle Malkin
Excerpt:
A large portion is expected to come from reductions in Medicare and Medicaid. But that won’t pay for the full overhaul. As for raising money, ideas have included a national sales tax, taxing soda and a “surtax” on people making more than $250,000.
Stop trying to steal my money to fund stupid government run healthcare programs that are doomed to fail. I really am getting tired of being told that I am supposed to pay for the rest of the slackasses in our country.
Taxes on soda? Is that fueled by the idea that soda makes people fat and therefore cost more to take care of? Ok – just so long as you don't tax my diet Coke.
Taking away more of my income, and making it more expensive for me to drink soda all day is really taking away any motivation I might have left to keep working in our socialist country. Democrats are idiots.
